I wasn’t planning to send out any more emails this year — but then I received another amazing piece of news yesterday…
I’m incredibly proud and honored to announce that I’m on the Forbes Next 1000 list!
The Forbes Next 1000 celebrates bold and inspiring entrepreneurs who are redefining what it means to run a business today — measuring success not only in dollars, but in impact and fulfillment.
👏👏 👏 Huge congrats to everyone else who made the list! I’m absolutely thrilled to be in your spectacular company.
The list was determined by Forbes editors and an expert panel of A-list judges from every sector — including Reid Hoffman, Sheryl Sandberg, Ayesha Curry, Aileen Lee, and Alex Rodriguez.
And a variety of factors were considered: revenue, total funding, ownership stake, business model, impact, and personal story.
And Speaking of Personal Story…
I’ve shared pieces of my entrepreneurial journey with you all before — but I’m sharing it here in full today, because of this exciting honor.
🙏 Thank you all for being part of my journey now and moving forward!
Two weeks before San Francisco locked down, I gave birth to my first child. And two weeks after that, I shut down my business.
I started 2020 as the co-founder Archer, a men's personal care company. But when gyms closed, travel stopped, and commutes ceased — the use cases for my product (a dry shampoo!) all went into quarantine, too.
Before Archer, I spent 15 years on the creative end of advertising—winning 93 awards (Addys, Clios, OneShow) while developing Fortune 500 brands (Netflix, Gap, Wyndham), creating indie darling brands (Biossance, Patchology), rebranding global brands (Crabtree & Evelyn), and running an editorial team at an in-house brand (Sephora).
But during my time as a DTC founder, I had uncovered a tremendous revelation: the traditional agency model is broken.
It is not designed to give founders the confidence to make high-risk calls or to create deeply authentic brands that engage today’s conscious consumers.
So, armed with a facemask, a newborn, and zero funding — I founded Brands That Get You in July of 2020 as an agency that truly understands both the creative and the business needs.
And I built out The Branding Sprint — a uniquely co-creative, founder-led approach that results in deeply authentic brands that exceed the social, political, and environmental demands of today’s consumers.
While earning my MA at Stanford, I wrote my thesis on the negative effects of stereotypes in advertising. And today, I spend 100% of my agency’s time working with diverse founders who are 100% committed to developing healthy mental models for a better world.
Since July 2020, Brands That Get You has created thirteen positive-impact brands.
And I’m incredibly excited to help more founders transform their incredible visions into what consumers want next year… and beyond!
Happy holidays, and I hope that everyone is having as good of a week as I am 🤗.
